HEHEDF x Athens

Event: "Strengthening climate democracy and citizens participation in Europe and in Athens"

17th May 14.00-16.00 EEST
Cultural Centre of Athens

Institutionalising Deliberative Democracy

Mini-publics like citizen assemblies and citizen juries have been practiced in all corners of the world to combat the shortcomings of our democracies. Can these representative and deliberative processes encourage governments to take actions desperately needed for climate transitions?

Join a pan-European discussion festival for Democracy

This discussion is part of Hybrid European Democracy Festival that aims to unite people from all over Europe in hyperlocal public discussions about democracy. Join us and citizens in Estonia, UK, Belgium and elswhere to discuss how we can strengthen climate democracy and achieve citizen participation!

Hyperlocal discussion: "How to Strengthen Climate Democracy with Deliberative Citizen Participation?"

Speakers introducing the topic:

from London: Alina Averchenkova (London School of Economics and Political Science)
from Ghent: Precious Unegbu (Ghent University)
from Tartu: Teele Pehk (DD Foundation) and Vitalii Tribelgorn (citizen assembly participant)

All Athens attendees are welcome to participate in the discussion via sli.do!

Discussion is held in English.

Local discussion ''How could we implement the discussion insights in Athens?''
